Baldur's Gate 3 Underdark

Remember when Larian Studios head Swen Vincke got everyone's hopes up by suggesting that Baldur's Gate 3 might enter Early Access in August? Well, that isn't happening anymore.

"Good news and bad news," begins a recent tweet by Larian Studios. "BG3 won't hit August." That is of course the bad news.

However, a small measure of consolation can be found in what the studio is planning for August 18th: a so-called "Panel from Hell" consisting of members from the Baldur's Gate 3 team and of course, Geoff Keighly, which will be devoted to A.) announcing the actual release date, and B.) sharing some "big news" about the game.

In fairness, fans were told from the get-go that the prospect of an August release was a bit of a moonshot. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic showing no signs of slowing down, the Baldur's Gate 3 team has been fairly transparent about the sort of workplace-related challenges they've been facing.

Then again, when has an asterisk ever stopped gamers from letting their expectations run wild.
