In a recent community update, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke told fans that - if things go according to plan - the highly-anticipated remake of Baldur's Gate 3 could be headed to early access as early as August 2020. However, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic requiring that the team maintain social distancing, Vincke stresses that it's a big IF whether they'll be able to deliver by that time.
As Vincke points out in the video, much of the team has successfully transitioned to working from home, though some elements of production - such as motion capture - requires members to collaborate on-site. Hence the potential snag.
In any case, the team will be showcasing more Baldur's Gate 3 gameplay during the D&D Live 2020 online event, which runs June 18th through the 20th.
