British-Columbia based pie chain, Boston Pizza, is getting a little nasty this holiday season, and has earned a permanent spot on the naughty list as a result. I'm of course talking about the culinary atrocity being referred to as "The Caroling Christmas Pizza", which is being served up by the restaurant until December 29th.
Yea, they made a commercial - jingle and all.
While technically a pizza in the sense that it consists of a base layer of dough topped with cheese and an assortment of ingredients, the Christmas Pizza's semblance to the second half of its namesake ends there. That's because this particular pie is topped seasoned rotisserie turkey, house-made stuffing, rosemary sage cream sauce, and..... Italian cheeses? Sure, why not.
It's audacious, ambitious, and entirely uncalled for. But it doesn't stop there.
For those opting to have their yuletide food crimes delivered rather than consuming it in public, a select few of these pizzas will be sent inside a greeting card pizza box that plays a fun holiday tune when opened. Hence the "Caroling" part of "The Caroling Christmas Pizza."
Being that this offer is limited only to those living in British Columbia, Canada, the vast majority of us will never get the privilege(?) of trying Boston Pizza's ambitious interpretation of a traditional holiday dinner. But I'd imagine one could take their Thanksgiving leftovers, throw them in a blender, and then apply the resulting paste to some toasted bread for a similar result.
