During today's highly-anticipated PS5 Reveal event, Capcom unveiled the next entry in its long-shambling series. It's titled "Resident Evil VILLAGE", which is a wonderfully subliminal naming convention, and is launching for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X sometime in 2021.
From what I can gather, Resident Evil 8 is set in a remote mountain village that, judging from the freaky stuff happening, appears to have fallen prey to another one of Umbrella Corporation's shenanigans. Players will once again assume the role of the previous game's protagonist, Ethan Winters, who after the events of Resident Evil VII is simply trying to put his life back together. Needless to say, there's a bit of a snag somewhere along the way and things break bad pretty quickly. Chris Redfield also makes an appearance in the trailer, and I gotta say that man is looking kinda rough these days.
According to the official website, Resident Evil 8 is being built on Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, which will in-turn provide "ultra-realistic graphics" that I'm sure will only make the on-screen horror that much more unsettling.
More details are expected to be revealed in August.
