Bohemia Interactive, the folks behind OG open-world zombie survival PVP running simulator DayZ, officially announced today a closed alpha for Survivor GameZ - an upcoming battle royale mode.

The original Survivor GameZ was a series of short-lived ESport tournaments orchestrated by DayZ standalone's previous creative lead, Brian Hicks, as well as former Twitch Community Manager Jordan Tayer. They, along with a small band of coders embarked to create and broadcast a fight-to-the-death, Hunger Games-style battle royale tournament using ARMA 2's DayZ mod. The premise was simple - drop 16 teams of 2 into the map and have them promptly murder one another until only one team remained.

Though thought to be sunsetted indefinitely, Survivor GameZ is coming back with all the dressings of more modern iterations of the battle royale genre. It will have multiple phases that require players to condense as the map closes in on them, a wide array of weaponry that range from "this thing ain't gonna do sh**" to "I totally got this", as well as a fairly unique take on the final phase's "end game".

You can read more about what Survivor GameZ is bringing to the battle royale table over on their official website, as well as sign up for an access code to join the closed alpha. Also, you will need a copy of DayZ Standalone in order to be eligible for the alpha, so keep that in mind if you're looking to get in on it.
