V1 Interactive's futuristic sci-fi FPS Disintegration launches next week, and being that much of the game's marketing has centered around the fact that its creator is Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, expectations are rather high. We'll have to wait until its June 16th release to find out if those expectations are deserved, but for now we have an exciting new launch trailer that gives us a better look at what could potentially be a promising new IP.

Disintegration is set in the not-so-distant future where Earth is in pretty dire straits. Well, more so than it is now, allegedly. Natural disasters are commonplace, disease is rampant, and society's rapid crumbling is giving way to militarized factions looking to seize control of whatever is left. Amidst it all, some (probably nefarious) corporation insists that humanity's best chance for survival is to transplant everyone's brains into robotic exoskeletons, because sci-fi, which is what gives the game its title.

While those that participated in last year's closed beta seem to have middling opinions of Disintegration, the game gets credit in my book for going outside the norms of the modern FPS genre by focusing on vehicle-based combat and providing players with the ability to coordinate with AI teammates.
