Dying Light Hellraid DLC

Much like its flesh-eating antagonists, Dying Light is a game that seemingly won't quit unless you bash its head into a bloody pulp. Now, you may be thinking "wow that's harsh", but I had to try and get at least one zombie joke in. Don't get me wrong, I am pleasantly surprised by the fact that developer Techland continues to support its now 5-year-old game in spite of the sequel being just on the horizon. They are a rare form that deserve commendations for their efforts.

So yea, Hellraid. What is it? The title itself is a reference to an unreleased game Techland canned years ago. Perhaps their idea was to pay homage to the project by having it make a cameo in an entirely different game as a demonic arcade cabinet expelled from the mouth of Hell itself. Yea, that tracks.

"It all started with an arcade machine survivors found in the Tower’s basement while investigating an odd power outage. None of them could remember seeing this strange device ever before. They moved it upstairs, unaware of its true nature." reads the DLC's press release.

The real question on my mind is whether this will be a Tron-like situation, where players will be zapped into the game itself, or if the arcade cabinet acts as a conduit of sorts that spawns hell's demons into the physical plane. Whatever that answer may be, it looks like players will be hacking and slashing their way through bonafide demons rather than mindless zombies, which, to say the least, adds a new layer of complexity to the game's meta.
