Although Fallout 76 is still an absolute dumpster fire, it wasn't always considered as such. There was once a time before its release where there was some actual hype for Bethesda's most ambitious game to-date. It was supposed to be a momentous step for the Fallout series, so naturally, Bethesda wanted to capitalize on the occasion by releasing a Collector's "Power Armor" Edition set that included all sorts of goodies - all to the tune of $200. What a deal.
But you know there wouldn't be any news here if all that went according to plan and customers simply received their collector's items as-advertised. Alas, it did not go down that way, so for those who may not have been paying attention during the fallout of Fallout 76 and subsequent PR face-plant, allow me to bring you up to speed:
As part of the "Power Armor Edition", there was one item in particular that was being advertised as a "West Tek" branded carrying bag made of the finest canvas ever produced. Okay, maybe it was just ordinary canvas, but you would think from the ensuing outrage sparked by this whole debacle, it was supposed to be one hell of a bag.
Unfortunately for everybody who was expecting something of higher quality, the bag that was actually included in those pre-orders turned out to be little more than a nylon trash bag, with a Wes Tek logo screen printed on it. Rightfully so, people were pissed, and I wish I could say that this was the only misstep that Bethesda would have to address throughout what feels like a year-long PR cleanup. But no, they really continued to eat shorts in the most incredible ways.
Now here we are seven months later, and Bethesda support is once again risking life and limb to expose themselves to the surface in order to let everyone know that the bags are coming. You just have to wait a little bit longer.
Honestly, for the sake of everyone involved, I truly hope that this pans out and we can finally put this scandal to rest.
