Ahead of this week's Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix has released some details for their upcoming Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remaster. Along with a new trailer, the company has revealed a release date of January 23rd, 2020.
The original Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles came out on the Nintendo Gamecube way back in 2003, which as I recall was a momentous event for the series in no short part due to the fact that the last Final Fantasy game to come to a Nintendo console was nine years prior with Final Fantasy VI.
In addition to bringing Crystal Chronicles to a new generation of players, the remaster includes a plethora of new features aimed at making a 15 year old game more approachable by a modern audience:
- Online multiplayer with up to four players.
- Cross-play support.
- New character skins.
- New items.
- Newly recorded narration.
- Newly recorded character voices.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will be released on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, IOS, and Android.
