While Zane comes off as being ill-tempered, anti-social, and a little too trigger-happy for his own good, Borderlands newcomer Moze finds herself at the opposite end of the spectrum by relying on and taking comfort in the strength of her indomitable companion - a literal robot giant, aptly named "Iron Bear".

Before becoming an intergalactic Vault Hunter, Moze served as a soldier in the Vladof army. As per the terms of her apparent contract, completing one final mission would earn her ownership of Iron Bear, and dismissal from what seems like an indentured arrangement with the army. That is, until the mission turns out to be an ambush. Things weren't looking great for Moze, but Iron Bear - whom possesses some level of sentience, or at the very least an exceptionally sophisticated AI, saves her from a near-certain demise.

The pair, being assumed dead (I guess), are able to bid farewell to their previous lives as soldier and war-machine, and embark on a new one - together. It would be a heart-warming tale of two unlikely friends helping each other find their way in the world, but this is Borderlands and so naturally everyone they encounter inexplicably wants them dead.
