Publisher Devolver Digital has released a teaser trailer for the newly-announced third entry in the long-running Shadow Warrior series, which we now know will be one of the games highlighted during next week's D3 showcase.
"We are beyond excited to bring Shadow Warrior fans a completely fresh experience, and we can’t wait to show off the new features we have in store for them." Game Director Kuba Opoń says of the announcement. "We want to make sure that our fast-paced gunplay sequences, razor-sharp melee combat, and spectacular free-running movement, will get their adrenaline pumping and senses thumping."
We'll have to wait until July 11th to see actual gameplay, but the teaser trailer offers us a glimpse at the sort of tools protagonist Lo Wang will have at his disposal - such as a new grappling hook, the ability to wall run, and maybe, just maybe, the punching power necessary to uppercut a demon's head clear off their shoulders.
I especially enjoyed the part where Lo Wang is going to work with his trusty blade while a nearby rabbit, who is unfortunately caught in the splash zone, looks on in horror and/or reverence.
According to Opoń, the team at Flying Wild Hog want to do right by long-time fans of the series while also leaving the door open for newcomers, saying that they "hope that Shadow Warrior 3 will feel like a homecoming for those fans that have been with us since the beginning. And we can’t wait to introduce new players to Lo Wang, our quick-witted hero with a tongue as sharp as his katana."
