Another day, another instance of executive-level misconduct. Riot's Global Head of Consumer Products, Ron Johnson, has resigned from his post following some decidedly un-choice comments he made on social media that, in essence, blamed George Floyd for his own death.

The news of his resignation comes by way of ESPN, who obtained a copy of an internal memo penned by Riot's CEO Nicolo Laurent. In it, Laurent expresses disappointment in Johnson's apparent lack of judgement, stating that his comments were "insensitive" and "undermines the commitment we’ve made to stand against all acts of injustice, racism, prejudice, and hate."

Laurent goes on to say that "Ron understands this and recognizes that he will be ineffective as a leader at Riot going forward. As a result, he has resigned", effectively putting an end to what has been a week-long affair.

Initially, Riot had placed Johnson on leave while the company conducted its own internal investigation into his misconduct, but chances are it was determined that there was no coming out of this one with his job, or the company's image, intact.
