One of the most coveted Playstation games of all time has made its triumphant return to the limelight in the form of a shiny new remake. After years and years of being in development and after multiple delays, it's finally here. Except the only folks that are able to enjoy it are Playstation owners. What's up with that? Well, if we are to take some slightly circumstantial evidence at face value, then there's a probable chance that FFVII Remake will be making its way to PC - eventually.

The evidence in question comes to us by way of a video from producer Yoshinori Kitase, whom, on behalf of Square Enix, wanted to thank fans for their patronage over the last 23 years, and also to squeeze out the last droplets of hype before players could get their hands on the game themselves. That's all fine and good, but the real star of the show was the text "Gameplay captured on PC" overlayed near the beginning of the video. See, I told you it was circumstantial, but bear with me for a moment.

Yes, it's common for early gameplay footage to be recorded from a PC-based development version of a game, especially when being used for marketing purposes. However, there has presumably been a finished PS4 version of the game for some time now, so it would be an odd move for Square Enix to stitch together gameplay footage from an early build this close to launch. Therefore, the most likely conclusion is that a PC version of the game exists to some extent.

Needless to say, using and labeling gameplay footage that isn't from the version of the game you're currently marketing invites some unnecessary speculation, as witnessed by this article. That is, unless there was more to it than just happenstance.

It should also be taken into consideration that the game's very own box art says that it is a timed exclusive until 2021, which makes for a pretty strong argument that the PS4 isn't the game's final destination. While that in and of itself doesn't guarantee a PC release, I mean - c'mon, where else is Square Enix going to go with it? Certainly not the PSP, that's for sure.

Hey, sorry about that time I made a dig at the PSP. That was rude.

In any case, wherever FFVII Remake is ultimately destined for won't matter for quite a while. In the meantime, our own Paxton O'Neal has been feverishly playing through the game. When asked, he gave a rousing endorsement of its quality, saying that he is "greatly enjoying it". I tell ya, that man can paint pictures with his words.
