Iron Danger time warps onto PC

For most traditional RPG's, the concept of "stopping" time, or rather, pausing the on-screen action in order to take a more calculated approach to a fight isn't entirely foreign. However, being able to turn back the clock on combat when things go south is something that, as far as I know, has yet to be explored in the genre - or most others for that matter.

That's because, traditionally, the linearity of time has been used in games to reward players for getting things right, and punishing them when they don't. Very rarely does a game encourage players to trial-and-error their way through without incurring some sort of penalty, but that is exactly what Iron Danger is doing by baking the the ability to rewind combat right into the game's mechanics. It's an interesting approach to turn-based combat - to say the least, but whether or not it's inadvertently a detractor from the game's difficulty remains to be seen.

Aside from the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey mechanics that are surely the game's most prominent selling point, Iron Danger's other key features include:

  • Steampunk fantasy inspired by Finnish folklore
  • Highly interactive environments.
  • epic boss monsters
  • No grinding! (allegedly)

Iron Danger launches March 25th on Steam.
