In a move that will likely be unsurprising to most, TwitchCon San Diego has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement comes by way of the official TwitchCon Twitter, where the organizers released a statement outlying the reasons for the event's cancellation, as well as their plans going forward.

"Due to restrictions on large gatherings and ongoing concerns for the health and safety of our community, the Twitch team, and the local San Diego community," the statement reads, "we have decided to cancel TwitchCon San Diego this fall."

While this means that Twitch personalities such as Dr. Disrespect won't be able to gouge viewership by filming unsuspecting patrons using the bathroom, the organizers are already making plans for how they will transition the streaming-centric event online later this year.
