Update 6/12/2020 @ 11:30 AM PST

EA has announced via Twitter that is will reveal Star Wars Squadrons on Monday, June 15th at 8:00 AM PST

Original Story

The Microsoft Store is really embracing its apparent newfound identity as a guerrilla marketing platform, having briefly listed an unannounced Star Wars game just long enough to send the internet and media into a tizzy before being unceremoniously purged from existence. However, thanks to the good samaritans at ResetEra, we now know that the game in question is called Star Wars: Squadrons.

Accompanied by concept art riddled with spacecrafts from across the Star Wars universe as well as bearing the tagline "Pilots Wanted", it seems likely that Star Wars: Squadrons will focus on air-combat. Could this be a spiritual successor to the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron games of yesteryear? I certainly hope so. While that's slightly less than speculative given the context, we'll have to wait for the official word from EA to know what exactly they have in store. If we're lucky, we might get some clarity as soon as June 18th during the next EA Play Live event.

Star Wars Squadron Microsoft Store Listing

Incidentally, this un-reveal comes just weeks after a similarly themed title leaked on the Playstation Store. That game was called Star Wars: Maverick, which featured concept art depicting X-Wings flying in formation against a Star Destroyer. It stands to reason that these two titles are related, and, to follow the rabbit hole a little further, may in fact be the "smaller, more unusual project" that Kotaku had previously reported was being developed by EA Motive.

In any case, we'll just have to wait and see.
