What exactly is the upcoming Dying Light/Left 4 Dead 2 crossover event going to be?

The passage of time is both cruel and unrelenting, as we are rapidly approaching Left 4 Dead 2's 10 year anniversary. This realization is almost so impossible to bear that I can barely stand it, so I won't. Anyway, and possibly unrelated (though for the sake of speculation let's go ahead and assume that it is, in fact, related) the official Dying Light Twitter account is teasing some sort of tie-in event that will, in some capacity, relate to Left 4 Dead 2. How it plans on doing so is an absolute mystery.

Let's face it - we've been waiting this long for a proper sequel to Left 4 Dead 2, and despite numerous hints of its development popping up over the years, we don't seem to be any closer to a third entry actually materializing. That said, perhaps the folks at Techland can find a meaningful way to honor Left 4 Dead's legacy while also incorporating it into Dying Light's signature style.

After all, Dying Light is a first-person co-op zombie shooter in a similar vein as Left 4 Dead - albeit with significantly more emphasis on parkour. I don't see why the game couldn't accommodate a one-off mode that blends the linearity of Left 4 Dead's campaigns with Dying Light's mechanics.

Though, if other tie-ins have shown me anything (I'm looking at your Resident Evil 6) it's that Left 4 Dead tie-ins are typically superficial in nature, and tend to act as a nod to the franchise more so than a mashup. Since I have no reason to believe that this upcoming crossover will be any different, it's probably best that I keep my expectations in check.
