Infamous The War Z creator Sergey Titov's latest project is.. Venture Capital

Luke Hardwick | 3 years ago

Shortly before abandoning his most recent game, it was announced that Sergey Titov and company were shifting their attention away from developing games, and would instead be pursuing new opportunities in the world of financing. Ever true to his word, it appears that the creator of controversial games such as The War Z, Shattered Skies, and Wild West Online, has landed a position at The Games Fund - a self-described "early-stage VC fund" geared towards helping burgeoning studios secure capital for their projects.

The Lord of the Rings Fellowship

It's a real shame about Amazon's cancelled Lord of the Rings MMO

Luke Hardwick | 3 years ago

By now you might've heard the news: Amazon's fabled Lord of the Rings-inspired MMO has been unceremoniously cancelled after roughly two years in development. Nothing to do at this point except to pour out a bit of brandywine and mourn what might have been.

Metal Gear Rising - Raiden

Konami renews trademarks for Castlevania, Metal Gear Rising. Sets everyone up for disappointment

Luke Hardwick | 3 years ago

Trademark renewals aren't normally a very sexy occurrence. In fact, they happen all the time, and usually nobody pays much attention. But when it comes to Konami, you know, the game publisher that hasn't done a whole lot of game publishing in recent times, people tend to pay attention. Why? Because those of us that are still waiting on Konami's executives to experience a change of heart - either by divine intervention or a stroke - and decide that making video games is a worthwhile investment. Why yes we do like to suffer needlessly.

Cyberpunk 2077 dev pulls plug on mod that allowed players to *checks notes* bang Keanu Reeves

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 2 months ago

With CD Projekt Red opening the flood gates on mod creation for Cyberpunk 2077, it was, if I'm being entirely honest with myself, only a matter of time before somebody would find a way to provide dedicated players the game's real endgame - the ability to bang Keanu Reeves.

Xbox Series X Fridge

Well I'll be, Snoop Dogg got an actual Xbox Series X fridge

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 6 months ago

As if we needed another reminder of what late capitalism looks like, Microsoft has apparently hooked Snoop Dogg up with a full-sized Xbox Series X refrigerator.

Mortal Shell protagonist playing the Lute

My character in Mortal Shell isn't much of a fighter, but he is one heck of a Lute player

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 6 months ago

Throughout my life, I've had to come to terms with certain things that, for one reason or another I will never be able to do. As a modestly-sized man, it's pretty safe to say that I could never play in the NBA. As someone whose brain just doesn't process math very well, chances are that I'm not going to become a rocket scientist anytime soon. Point being, I find that successfully managing one's life requires an understanding of one's weaknesses as well as strengths, then doing one's best to apply themselves in ways that are more conducive to the latter.

Watch Dogs: Legion Pig Squad

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 6 months ago

Watch Dogs: Legions producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan recently hosted a Reddit AMA where, as customary, users got the opportunity ask all manner of questions relating to the upcoming title. Being that Watch dogs is releasing on both current and next-gen consoles, it's no surprise that there would be an interest in what sort of perks are in store for those that might be playing on either Xbox Series X or PS5.

Outbreak: New Dawn More Zombies

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 6 months ago

Development of Outbreak: New Dawn, the ill-conceived "spiritual successor" to the heavily controversial The War Z, is being offloaded to a new publisher after just six months of development. The original studio behind it, Free Reign Entertainment, announced via social media that it had reached an agreement with Thailand-based Electronics Extreme for them to acquire the game.

Among Us is getting some Great Fan Art

Among Us may bring out the worst in your friends, but it brings out the best(?) in its fan art community

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 6 months ago

If you didn't know, Among Us has absolutely exploded in popularity over the past month or so. Prior to the boom, Among Us saw an active player base in the double digits, where as now there are roughly 200,000 concurrent players on a Wednesday night. Although Among Us has been around since 2018, its sudden popularity in the latter half of 2020 can be attributed to Twitch, or rather, being picked up by some prominent streamers. Since the game's premise and gameplay loop makes for excellent audience fodder, it's no wonder why it has become an latent overnight phenomenon.

Fall Guys Gameplay

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout Review

Luke Hardwick | 3 years, 8 months ago

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout defies what it means to be a battle royale by offering a new take on the genre that is both addicting and wholly unique. The unpredictable chaos that Fall Guys provides manages to give gamers of all skill levels an opportunity to compete on an even playing field - which is great - but it's unclear whether the absence of meaningful, skill-based gameplay will keep players engaged for the longterm.
