Ready your butts, folks - Gearbox announced earlier today during their PAX West presentation that Borderlands 3 will be bringing the punishment, particularly with its endgame.
In addition to bringing back True Vault Hunter Mode, which was Borderlands 2's version of a new game plus, the upcoming sequel is introducing something called "Mayhem Mode".
According to Gearbox, Mayhem Mode will be the "bread and butter" of Borderland 3's endgame, providing a significantly heightened difficulty by boosting enemies stats as well as increasing their resilience to elements. In return, since this is Borderlands, players will receive more experience and better lootz.
Content-wise, the devs have already confirmed campaign-extending DLC for sometime in the future, as well as an assortment of new modes to change things up.
