Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took the lighthearted, vividly colored platforming of Banjo Kazooie and combined it with a frog that, despite being an entirely separate species, feels oddly reminiscent of Gex the Gecko? Well, for one - wow, because that is super obscure, but secondly - surprise! There is currently an ongoing Kickstarter campaign aiming at creating a game with that exact mixture.

It's called F.R.O.G, which probably stands for something but with an acronym that on-brand it could really go either way. It also just so happens to star an actual frog as its main character. Its mission - to remind you of how physics can wreak absolute havoc on any perceivable strategy while inadvertently making you feel sorry for the frequency at which its titular FROGtagonist experiences the consequences of his own hubris.

F.R.O.G. began its life as a tadpole at the Vancouver Film School and would end up being a student project for its original creators. It went on to win "Best Game" out of all of that year's entries, which may very well have inspired the team to make it into a full-fledge game. The team formed a studio, named Egg In A Bag, and have since devoted themselves to bringing their amphibian-centric project to the masses.

As per the game's Kickstarter page, the premise is rather simple:

You play as the character “Todd Pohl” and must navigate many miniature worlds to find challenges and complete them using your tongue. Collect gold trophies scattered around the game and unlock more levels!

From what I've seen so far, F.R.O.G. looks like a wholesome, highly approachable game that simply wants its players to have fun solving puzzles. I'd imagine that a good portion of the game's difficulty stems from how physics react to the player interactions with each prop-filled miniature worlds. It appears that the frog's tongue is, appropriately, its main resource in overcoming obstacles to varying degrees of success. That is to say, I doubt there will be any shortage of laughs to be had.

As of this writing, F.R.O.G. is currently sitting at around 21% of its $38,345 goal with only 8 days left to go. If you're interested, you can donate to the cause directly on its Kickstarter page.
