Saints Row: The Third Remastered is headed this way in May

Ready your butts, folks, because Saints Row: The Third - aka one of the rowdiest games ever made - is getting a second coming. Why? Who care, because if you thought those absurdly large dildos looked great before, just wait until you get a look at them in Saints Row: The Third Remastered.

The news comes by way of publisher Deep Silver, who this morning announced that the third entry in their infamous Saints Row series is receiving the remaster treatment - set to launch on May 22nd for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The company also detailed some of the remaster's improvements include better graphics, a higher density of on-screen assets (such as increased traffic and pedestrian count - oh la-la), and * looks at notes * more puddles.

The original game, which was first released way back in 2011, offered a goofy, if not crude take on gang rivalries and urban warfare. This juxtaposition to Grand Theft Auto 4's exceedingly gritty crime epic made it an easy standout in the open-world sandbox genre. As a result, the game attracted a substantial following and has since become a favorite of the franchise. Interestingly enough, and despite being an unapologetic parody of its contemporary, Saints Row: The Third could actually be considered one of the more grounded entries in the series, as later iterations involved aliens invading earth and waging war on hell itself.

If one of your biggest concerns happens to be about whether or not the original game's many, many DLCs will be included, then worry not. All DLC, including expansions, will be present in the remaster. For $39.99, I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

While we wait for Saints Row 5, which is due for some sort of reveal sometime this year, perhaps a return to Stilwater for some hilariously immature antics is exactly the escape we need right now.
