Sonic the Hedgehog stretching

It's not everyday that the internet makes a fuss and anyone listens, but in the case of Sonic The Hedgehog - those voices were heard.

The first trailer for Sonic The Hedgehog dropped last month, and little time was wasted before the internet had literally imploded over the laughably bad appearance of its titular character. While there were admittedly some questionable creative choices made when adapting our favorite blue hedgehog to the big screen, I would have never expected that anything would come from the internet's disapproval.

Well, earlier today, director Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to announce that his film is being delayed until February 2020 so that Sonic can get a redo.

This means that the VFX team will be going back to the drawing board to create a new version of the character - one that is perhaps slightly less disturbing, or at the very least, doesn't stir up as much drama as the previous iteration. They definitely have their work cut out for them, but if Jeff Fowler's choice of hashtag is to be any indication of what type of workload this overhaul will entail, the film being delayed is hopefully to ensure expectations for the team remain reasonable, and most importantly, ethical.
