In case you are one of the 15 people who were actually looking forward to it (I'm one of them, unfortunately), Bohemia Interactive today released its first ever DLC for their hardcore-survival/running simulator, DayZ.

For a modest $13.99 USD, players can finally take a break from aimlessly wondering the dreary, monotone valleys of Chernarus and step into Livonia to face off against one of mankind's oldest and fiercest foes - bears. According to today's press release, Livonia offers a breath of fresh air both figuratively and literally with its "lush landscapes, dense forests, winding rivers, serene lakes, murky swamps, and an array of dilapidated structures that tell the story of an abandoned society."

Considering Livonia's massive size, which comes in at whopping 163 km2, it's slightly more forgivable that Bohemia Interactive has taken so long to produce a successor to its original map. However, at a staggering 230 km2, Chernarus still remains the game's largest map to-date. Hopefully this means that the devs aimed for quality over quantity, as one of the greatest criticisms of the original map was its overuse of dead space. No pun intended.

To coincide with today's DLC, DayZ is also receiving some TLC in the way of the 1.06 update, which offers new weapons, attachments, fishing, throwing improvements, fixes, and tweaks.
